Me

With one of the new designs, don't know if I will be back in Bahrain for the Awali craft fair - I'm keeping fingers crossed.

On another note (totally out of context, I know): I really miss my husband :(

Mauritius

I arrived safely in Mauritius.

I am trying to make the most of my "forced" holidays, but I am blessed to spend time with my parents and friends.

I went to Pamplemousses today, a typical pittoresque village in Mauritius and I went crazy taking pictures of every single flower/plant I found in the garden

Below are some of the most interesting ones

I don't know the name of this fower but it looks very nice

Lotus flower, one of many in the garden ponds

Some of my favourite fruits

Jack fruit - I like them in curries, hmm delicious or fresh from the tree :)

Good Read

I recently purchased a book by Gabriel Garcia Marquez in our local second hand store.

It's been long since I've read a good book, and One Hundred Years of Solitude is more than good, it's thrilling, marvellous, unexpected.

I highly recommend this book. His storytelling is powerful and enticing. I like family sagas, the mystery, the humour, reference to nature - great imagination.

I have wanted to read a book from Gabriel Garcia Marquez since I watched Love in the time of Cholera. The critics were not great but I was drawn to the nature, foliage and ambiance of the movie. For those who've seen Javier Bardem in No Country for old men - you will probably find him weird in that one.

I like the reference to nature, foliage and jungle is aplenty

The houses and decor are beautiful

I like the 'costumes d'epoques' too

Done

Yesterday I have registered for my 2nd craft fair (Awali Craft Fair), which will be held at the same place - Bapco Club, Awali. I have a lot of work right now to add some new designs to the collection.

***

On a discovery note, I went to visit the Old Palace and Muharraq souk yesterday with some new friends. I must say that the Old Palace was very inspiring design wise. The lines and shapes and patterns present and typical of Arabian architecture proved to be very inspiring.

Interesting lines and shapes

The Craft Fair

Well my friends and readers, it's time for some feedback on what happened at the Fall Craft Fair

In a few words:

Very busy craft fair/interesting experience for me to see the interactions sellers/buyers
Lots of stops and great feedback at my stall but no real sales - hmmm
Only sold 3 necklaces out of 25 created this month
Shoppers liked the idea that from the boxes to my business cards and price tags - all were handcrafted
Great neighbours/crafters :)
Exhausted at the end of the day

Notes to myself

Stay positive
To have a bigger stall with more collection to show next time (I can work on this now that I don't have a day job)
Bring a sweater next time - it was so cold
Start working on Etsy shop

Some pics of the fair

My table - I got there quite early and set up the table in 10 mins really

I think that I should find a better way to show off the jewelery, maybe a shelf ?

Me :)

It was that crowded !

Even if I did only 3 sales, I am still positive,it was my first fair and I did not have a lot to show, plus people did not really know me. So let's keep faith and hope.
